Ryan Robert's album "Smile" is a recording of five original compositions by Ryan and features additional compositions by Zane Musa, Charlie Chaplin and Thelonious Monk.

Roberts' original compositions and arrangements are heavily influenced by European art-music, Soul, Americana and the Jazz tradition. Selections such as "Sea & Sun", "Man of Absinthe" and "Winter Nocturne" consist rhythmic complexities with lyrical, vocal like, melodies.

Other pieces such as "Generations" (which Ryan co-wrote with his father James Roberts) is saturated with mood, atmosphere and artistic concept, while "Zane's Song" has a folk music and storytelling quality.

The title track "Smile" is composed by the legendary Charlie Chaplin and Roberts' arrangement was inspired by a street art mural of Chaplin. (Depicted in the album's cover art)
